Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has said he dreams of America being stripped of its global power and made to have "no importance in the world".
Speaking in a video interview for the Instigate Debate campaign, Coxon revealed his desire to "start again" with the U.S. to bring more harmony to the world.
"Part of me wants to kind of clear America like an old overgrown field that needs the stubble burning and start again," he said.
"Just keep all the nice Americans somewhere while we do it. I think there'll be a lot less oxygen being used, a lot less greenhouse gasses."
Coxon added: "That's my little dream fantasy, that they have no importance in the world, they're not some sort of power, they think they're policing the world, and we can actually get back to how it used to be when us and Persia were good mates."
Also speaking in the interview, Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty questioned why Rupert Murdoch would need such an expansive media empire with his News Corp organisation.
"Why would anyone want to own all that, it's a bit perverse," he said.
"Writing shit about me and my house, saying I've got a smelly house. Which I do. It's my business. Why don't you use the money for some cleaners and solve the problem?"
