Jaws and Driving Miss Daisy producer David Brown has passed away at the age of 93.
The veteran film producer died on Monday at his home in Manhattan, New York, following a long battle with illness
Over his lengthy career, Brown brought Elvis to the small screen for the first time in Love Me Tender, and helped launch Steven Spielberg's career with 1975 blockbuster Jaws.
After setting up a production company with Richard Zanuck, Brown helped develop various high-profile movies, including 1973 Oscar-winner The Sting.
He is survived by wife Helen Gurley Brown, long-running editor of the Hearst Corporation-owned Cosmopolitan magazine, where Brown was also previously managing editor.
In a statement, Hearst Corporation vice-chairman and chief executive Frank A Bennack Jr said: "David Brown was a force in the entertainment, literary and journalism worlds.
"We are very lucky at Hearst to have worked with him and his legendary wife, Helen, for many years.
"His expansive body of work will be enjoyed by people around the world for many centuries to come. He will be greatly missed."
A public funeral for Brown will be held tomorrow at the Frank E Campbell Funeral Chapel in Manhattan.
