Noel Gallagher has claimed in a witness statement that he will "never really recover" from the injuries sustained during an on-stage attack in September 2008.

During a performance at the V Festival in Toronto with former band Oasis, Gallagher was assaulted by crowd member Daniel Sullivan, leaving him with three cracked ribs.

Gallagher discussed the incident during a session at a Toronto court after Sullivan had pleaded guilty on charges of assault.

According to The Sun, the musician said:

"I would describe the impact and shock as feeling as if I had been hit by a bus.

"I ended up in a heap. I have been told that I will never really recover from the damage, and still feel painful twinges.

He added: "The emotional impact it had was essentially coping with the pressure to perform so as not to let the band down. For a considerable period I was operating at 50% of my capabilities."

Oasis were forced to cancel a series of shows due to Gallagher's injury. Sullivan will be sentenced next month.
