accrued considerable critical praise on its release earlier in the summer and a successful tour with Editors followed. Søren Corneliussen
(vocals, guitar) joins us to discuss touring, hangovers and amorous
male stage invaders.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND?
Maybe a mixture of grandiose, happy-sad pop/rock and minimalist tunes.
WHAT WAS IT LIKE TOURING WITH EDITORS?
It was one of the greatest things that have happened to us so far, and our first long tour playing so many concerts.
HOW DIFFERENT WAS IT PREPARING FOR A SUPPORT TOUR
RATHER THAN UNDERTAKING ONE OF YOUR OWN?
The set is much shorter, so it's about choosing the right songs and giving the audience something really good.
WHAT CAN PEOPLE EXPECT FROM KISSAWAY TRAIL LIVE?
An energetic and intense performance, which will make people jump and dance.
WHAT ARE YOUR ROUTINES WHILST ON TOUR - IS IT ALL SEX,
DRUGS AND ROCK 'N' ROLL?
We all have girlfriends at home in Denmark, so there won't be much sex. But we do enjoy beer and smoking, which is kind of rock 'n' roll. We're not famous enough yet to get offered free drugs! Our basic routine is: driving in our bus, waiting, sound check, waiting, playing, and then drinking until we fall asleep.
HOW DO YOU COPE WITH THE CONSTANT HANGOVERS?
The best thing to do is buy more beer, a cure which probably won't be too good in the long run.
WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE YOU'VE PLAYED A GIG SO FAR?
The Roskilde, Latitude and Wireless festivals were all big experiences for us. We also enjoy playing small venues. Being close to your audience makes it more intense and personal.
WHAT IS THE ODDEST THING THAT HAS HAPPENED AT A GIG?
Definitely at a concert in Copenhagen where two guys suddenly jumped on stage during our set and started kissing each other. It was pretty odd and would have been sexier if it had been two girls.
