Approximately 160 people were arrested on Wednesday (10 March) following a riot outside a Metallica concert in Bogota, Colombia.

According to Sky News, hundreds of fans without tickets turned up to the show at Simón Bolívar Park and tried to break through the barriers.

After a riot broke out, 1,500 police officers had to be called into action, backed up by tanks and police trucks.

The riot lasted for 45 minutes and led to four fans and four police officers being injured, including one person requiring treatment for a stab wound.

Local police chief Ruben Castillo said:

"The presence of police and riot teams was necessary because these misfits - there's no other name for them - damaged some windows in the surrounding area."

Despite the disruption, the Metallica performance was not affected.

In January, 120 people were arrested during a different riot at a Metallica gig in Santiago, Chile.
