Shine International has unveiled plans to develop a new film about the final years of pop legend Michael Jackson, reports Variety.
Titled Gone Too Soon, the 88-minute documentary is being overseen by Ian Halperin, author of Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson.
Halperin wrote the bestselling book after spending five years investigating the King of Pop. In December 2008, he claimed that Jackson was in poor health and predicted that the star would be dead within six months.
The film will use around 300 hours of video and audio footage captured from inside the singer's camp in the years preceding his death in 2009.
The footage includes interviews with Jackson's manager, spiritual advisor, chef, hairstylist, attorney, personal trainer and agent.
According to Shine, the Jackson family was not involved in the documentary but they are aware of its existence.
Despite the tough subject matter, Halperin said that film will be the "balanced tribute" to Jackson that his fans "deserve".
Shine International President Chris Grant claimed that the doc will "eventually be known as a really important piece of the Michael Jackson saga".
He added: "Ian's done an incredible job telling the story of what actually happened to Michael. We've teased it a bit and the reaction has been tremendous."
Gone Too Soon will be screened at theatres in Canada and France on 25 June, the first anniversary of Jackson's death.
