That great comedy character, Inspector Jacques Clouseau (no, not the guy who was underwater all the time, the other one) teams up with a squad of international detectives who are just as bumbling as he is. Their mission is to stop a globe-trotting thief, who specialises in stealing historical artefacts, and to entertain a new generation not brought up on Peter Sellers and 70s production values (though one of them did feature a very yummy Catherine Schnell bronzied by a swimming pool, so it couldn’t have been all bad).
Steve Martin and co. here are in the safe hands with Harald Zwart at the helm, and though some critics may be holding their noses aloft it does the business. Martin's performance may be a matter of taste to some (bad taste to others), but if it’s broad comedy you're after and it's been one of those weeks, this is the one for you. Sacre bleu!
