Who? Marius Modal is a 22 year old full-time electronic musician, based in London. Born in Mexico, Modal is working on an album, touring live and making new friends, so say 'Hi' to him.
Why? Around the clock Modal’s best friends are his synths, his music and the studio. He's a dedicated boy.
When? Don’t expect to see Modal until the album is out the way, at which point expect to see him somewhere near you soon.
Where? Usually found playing in London, Modal undertakes live performances using a custom set-up, playing original tracks and remixes. Check out appearances dates at his MySpace.
My sound at the moment is disco future retro & dirty indie electro.
Why bother?
I’ve been in love with music since I was five or six. I really just knew I was destined to make music and believe it is one of the most powerful ways of inspiring people. Through music you can reach the inner self. Overall though I would say I do it for the love.
What would you be doing if you weren’t in the business?
I would probably be making indie films if I would not have chosen to be a full time music producer.
Who or what are your influences?
Currently, Capri ,Italo Disco, kitsune, Empire of the Sun, Calvin Harris, Aeroplane, La Roux, Sam Sparrow, Milke , RoykSopp and I’m a sucker for quality cutting-edge, raw music production.
Which acts are you most jealous of?
I’m really not a jealous kinda guy, but if I was I would be jealous of people on TV making ugly music videos. There is a lot more talent that can take their place and blow peoples minds!
Tour or record?
I would love to constantly tour around the world, though at the end of the day I really do need time to make my own proper music.
Are you watching Big Brother?
I know I have stumbled across it on the TV before going to sleep, though I really don’t watch much television. If I do I would much prefer a proper film or TV show than something so boring.
What is you all time favourite musical film, and why?
I would have to say The Nightmare Before Christmas. I really love Tim Burton’s crazy and dark art films, plus Jack is a really cool character and reminds me of myself! That film is pure quality. There’s also Mirror Mask, which is not really a musical but the
music in it is really amazing.
For what cause would you die?
There is no cause I would die for, apart from music, which will never die. Music will have an eternal life.
