Who? The First are five guys (Rob Knight - drums/vocals, Matt Smith – vocals, Tim Crane - guitar/vocals, Trev Smith - bass/vocals, Ben Knowles - guitar/spandex), from the Norfolk/Cambridgeshire border, who play melodic rock with a pop punk edge. Currently penning their debut album and continuing to rock as many stages as possible.
Why? Offering the U.K. scene something a little different, the First are still pop but not sugar-coated or over produced, and well known for live shows packed with energy and positivity.
When & Where? Check out the band's (rather smashing) MySpace for all the latest dates and venue news.
We're all pretty ugly, apart from Tim. He's a dreamboat.
What's a great night out for you lot?
Playing a mega show, then ripping it up at a van party!
Where do you get your influences from?
All over the place. We have quite a hardcore influence but you'll
also find a lot of 80s pop in our sound too.
Why should we come to Norfolk?
There really is no reason to! It’s very flat and not much happens.
It’s like a county full of retirement villages.
What is your biggest fear?
Lady Gaga: Is it a man or a woman?
Critical acclaim, money and fame?
We'd obviously love to make a living out of music so the money
side does become important. We've never really cared for critics
or fame, we're just having a good time. As long as our friends and fans enjoy it then we've achieved our goals!
What’s your dancing like?
Rob and Trev dance like a disco scene from Miami Vice, while Ben does an odd dance that confuses most people.
What has been your best/worst gig?
The best gigs have probably been the shows at The Waterfront in Norwich - always a good crowd and a great sound too. The worst one we did would be the one at the b2 in Norwich; all the mics fell
to bits and the PA was broken!
What do you do at the end of a gig?
We try to get out and speak to the fans as much as possible. Then, usually, we have a van party!
What is the state of the world now?
Good and bad.
What can be done about it?
Rachel from Countdown could sort it out.
