Shiver me timbers (etc) ...
U.K. production firm Ecosse Films has revealed plans to create a new feature adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel, Treasure Island.
According to Variety, Ecosse executives Douglas Rae and Robert Bernstein want to reboot the 19th century story of pirates and buried treasure for a new generation.
Callas scribe Niall Johnson has been hired to write the script, which will focus on Long John Silver's relationship with narrator Jim Hawkins.
Ecosse wants to re-imagine Silver as a much more vibrant character, in a similar way to Robert Downey Jr recently portrayed Sherlock Holmes.
Meanwhile, the production firm is also currently working on adapting Nowhere Boy, Sam Taylor Wood's early year's film about John Lennon, into a stage play.
