In Charles Guard's classy (and at times shocking) chiller Anna Rydell returns home to her sister (and best friend) Alex after a stay in a mental hospital, though her recovery is put at risk, thanks to her cruel stepmother, cold father, and the presence of a ghost in their home.
It's the kind of classy set-up that Hitchcock built an entire career (and new genre) on and which here, in the very able hands of Guard - who knows certainly how to build tension and what to do with it - is sharply brought into the noughties.
Elizabeth Banks and Arielle Kebbel are suitably engaging here and it moves with a pace sure to keep audiences on their toes (or the edge of their seats) and reveals the influence of Eastern Horror on Western Cinema.
