Our podcast series now continues on its mission to provide a platform to some of the world's top electronic talent, while also offering a free wedge of music for your delectation. As such, please welcome Belgian techno producer Peter Van Hoesen, who comes bearing a rather wonderful mix brimming with musical gifts.
Belgian producer and DJ Peter Van Hoesen has been a regular fixture on the electronic music scene in Brussels since 1993. Alongside performing DJ sets all around Europe, Van Hoesen has also released albums and singles on various imprints, including Foton, Berlin's Lan Muzic and the Brussels-based Meakusma.
Between 2001 and 2005, Van Hoesen released music under his alternative electronic identities, Object, RM and Bent Object. However, in 2006 he issued a debut techno EP under his own name, titled Increments.
Following a run of well-received 12" inch singles last year, Van Hoesen returns to the fray in 2010 with his first full-length album, Entropic City, on Time To Express records. The album showcases Van Hoesen's love for sweat-soaked techno beats and slow-paced, sprawling compositions. From the industrial groove of album opener Intro Entropy to the atmospheric closing tones of Defense Against The Self, the album never wavers on its journey of sonic exploration.
In between DJing and making music, Van Hoesen also dabbles as a sound designer and composer for contemporary dance and theatre productions. What a talented chap.
Peter Van Hoesen's Entropic City is released on 22 March, on the Time To Express label.
